A man in Greymouth rescues turtles from a nearby food market and releases them back into their natural habitat.
Thank goodness for this nice man!
When all turtles are at risk of extinction, why are individuals allowed to trade sea turtles?
We frequently hear about pets that have been saved, but you might not be aware that there are many wild creatures and even marine animals waiting for people’s attention and assistance!
Sadly, much of the world still allows for the legal harvesting of turtles for their meat. Two Papua New Guinea sea turtles were at a small local market in Greymouth, New Zealand. stranded there and waiting to be placed on someone’s table as a delicious feast.
Small acts of kindness have a great impact sometimes, so maybe it truly would have mattered if Arron Culling, a wonderful gentleman, hadn’t shown up here and saved them.
Arron and his companions spent over $.40 to bring these turtles back with a noble purpose, which is to return them to the sea—their warm, natural habitat.
These two turtles are not the first that they have actually saved; more than ten turtles have been saved, but he is aware that no one person can alter the world; we all must work together!
