First sighting in Kenya of a rare WHITE mother and baby giraffe

A unique sighting of a white mother and her offspring giraffe has been reported in Kenya. This is the first time such a rare occurrence has been documented. The giraffes were spotted in the Ishaqbini Hirola Conservancy in Garissa County, Kenya. The mother and baby giraffe have a genetic condition called leucism, which causes a partial loss of pigmentation in their skin. This condition is different from albinism, which is a complete loss of pigmentation. The conservationists are thrilled with this discovery and are working to protect these rare giraffes from poachers and other threats to their survival.
